25 years ago today, America suffered one of its darkest moments as large-scale terrorism struck the homeland. 2,996 people (including 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMS personnel) were killed in three separate but connected attacks on US soil. Commuter passenger planes were hijacked and crashed at the Pentagon, the World Trade Center and in Shanksville, PA. We remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice.
