Just prior to 1:00 am the box was struck for a reported ‘outlet on fire’ in a first due garden apartment. Engine 41, C-40 and Truck 4 arrived to find a working fire in a second division apartment that was already auto-exposing into the mansard roof. The Engine Company deployed 2 handlines in an attempt to extinguish and cut off the rapidly advancing fire. The Truck Company began primary searches. Within minutes the fire had control of the common roof area made of lightweight truss construction. The decision was made to pull crews out and attempt a transition attack. Additional Companies were brought to the scene to try and cut the fire off downstream but the windy weather conditions caused the fire to overrun the troops. Eventually, enough master streams were in place to fully extinguish the fire. Companies were out for approximately 6 hours mopping up hot spots. News Story Photos courtesy First Due Photography
