Rescue Drill Night

Last night for our weekly training Captain Fry conducted a thinking outside of the box rescue drill.

With our rescue truck being out of service for refurbishment work Engine 42 and Utility 4 are taking the place of the rescue.

Crews had to work with the equipment being carried on the engine and utility to complete the rescue.

Crews had to stabilize one car near the top of the hill then construct a rope system to get down the hill to the simulated car, package patients into the stokes basket and the make their way back up the hill.

The medic units stayed busy during drill as company 4 responded to 15 emergencies yesterday in total.

Congratulations Adam Palmer

This week, #4 Paramedic/FF Adam Palmer received a commendation from the City of Pittsburgh for his quick actions that saved a life.

Adam was off duty and provided care to a man downtown who experienced a sudden cardiac arrest. Adam was reunited with the man and his family at the ceremony and a large contingent of the Palmer family was in attendance as well.

Adam is a long time volunteer at our station and second generation Paramedic. He serves as a Paramedic Crew Chief for the City of Pittsburgh.

Way to go Palmer!
