As crews were about to have a little lunch, the tones dropped for a report of heavy smoke coming from a commercial structure. Truck 4 arrived on scene to a building known to be under renovation with no workers immediately located and heavy smoke emitting from both the front and back of the two story building. Truck 4 interior crews began primary searches while T-4 operator began placing ground ladders and preparing the power ladder for deployment. T-4 exterior crews deployed to the roof and began vertical ventilation. Engine 62 and Quint 1 arrived and deployed handline for extinguishment but found the fire to be in and around a bank vault. The fire was burning within the walls of the building and within the walls of the vault. Crews had to painstakingly peel the steel plates from the exterior and interior of the vault to completely extinguish the fire. Crews were on scene for approximately 8 hours.
