Early Sunday morning, Monroeville fire stations were alerted for a fire alarm activation due to water flow at the Monroeville Mall. Units arrived and investigated the alarmed riser to find positive water flow. Further investigation determined there was a live sprinkler head activated within the mall. E-12 and Truck 4 crews investigated the interior of the mall to find smoke on the first and second divisions. The fire was located in the rear of one of the mercantile spaces above the food court. T-4 forced entry into the space by cutting the access gate allowing E-12 to stretch a line in place. The activated sprinkler head had mostly extinguished the fire and the hand line was not needed. Additional Companies were requested due to the extensive amount of ventilation that was needed. The fire was held to the rear of a single store. Photos
