Today, at the 5th Annual AHN Trauma Symposium, members of Station #4 were presented with Allegheny Health Network – Prehospital Care Services “performance recognition” challenge coins for exceptional work in providing emergent medical and rescue care to a trauma patient earlier this year. This past January, Station 4 was dispatched to the PA Turnpike for a crash with entrapment. Crews arrived and quickly identified the severity of the patient’s injuries, removed the driver’s side door, extricated him from the vehicle and had the patient in the care of the Forbes Trauma Team within 33 minutes of our arrival on the scene. It was awesome to meet the victim of the crash who fully recovered but initially had a very grim prognosis on his survival.
