Around 4:30 this afternoon Engine 41 was dispatched into Plum for a reported odor of smoke in an apartment after a potential lightning strike. Chief 236 arrived and reported a working fire with smoke from the C side of the building. E-41 arrived and entered the A side with a hand line and began searching for victims and the seat of the fire. Primary search proved to be negative for human victims, however, two pet cats were found and handed off to EMS. The fire was found to be in the basement and was extinguished quickly. E-42 remained on scene for approximately 2 hours.
