Saturday evening as Company 4 made preparations for the annual Christmas party, Truck 4 was dispatched into Wilmerding for a reported vehicle fire impinging on a multi-residential structure. While the Truck was assisting Wilmerding crews E-42 was dispatched into the first due for a residential automatic fire alarm activation. E-42 arrived and staged at a hydrant while the crew performed a 360 size-up/investigation. That’s when an odor of smoke was noticed coming from the residence. That alarm was upgraded while E-42 and Quint 1 crews forced entry and extinguished a fire in the kitchen. The residents were not home and no injuries were sustained.
